Denna D. Babul, R.N., is a successful life coach, Huff Post blogger, motivational speaker, writer, medical expert, and cofounder of the Fatherless Daughter Project. She has been featured on the Today show and Atlanta & Company. A fatherless daughter since the age of thirteen, Babul has found her calling in creating a community and support system for fellow fatherless women of all ages. Her focus is helping others learn how to transform a difficult past into a thriving future. She lives in Atlanta with her husband and two children.
Karin Luise, Ph.D., is a counselor, writer, educator, and inspirational speaker specializing in spirituality, women’s issues, and holistic well-being. She is a regular blogger for The Huffington Post and has been featured on HuffPost Live, in USA Today, and in The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Her passions include helping others find inner peace and life purpose. She resides in Atlanta with her three children and rescue dog, Tucker.

They "GET IT"! It's like they wrote this for Me! (And you)

If you have lost your father, GET THIS BOOK! Get multiple books, for yourself & gifts for your fatherless girlfriends. No matter how/when you lost him, (death, divorce, emotional withdraw, abuse, neglect, before birth, recently or many many years ago) this book is a must read. It is elegantly written and extremely spot on about the difficulties/challenges losing a father intakes. It is also eye opening how an amazing "sisterhood" that being a fatherless daughter is. I laughed and I cried and I am healing a wound that is 25 years old. To all my "sisters" out there, We can heal and we can unite! This book is the perfect start to your journey of true healing. I wish I could give it 6 stars!

Fathers can gain much insight with The Fatherless Daughter Project

Let me start off by saying that I am a stepdad to 2 children. I was at an age where I was not going to have children but then I found my wife to be and all that changed.
What is great about this book is even the men (fathers, step-fathers, future fathers) can learn so much from The Fatherless Daughter Project. Never doubt the impact you do have or can have on your children. This book isn't about bashing fathers. If you are a dad, a step-dad, or a stand-in, you will absolutely learn many things about yourself and your children, particularly your daughters.
Lastly, I had a book shipped to my mom who was fatherless. Both of her parents died before I really knew them. I guess that is why I refer to them as her parents and not my grandparents. My mom has never really opened up about her parents to us kids. Hopefully she gains some insights to herself and her childhood. It would be really nice to know more about my mom's side of the family.
Buy this book. Give it as a gift! You will not be disappointed!

A must-read for all fatherless daughters and those who love them.

I am not a fatherless daughter; however, I purchased this book as a show of support for my friend who is one of the authors. Little did I know that this book would become a powerful resource for my daughters, and myself, as they now fit the category of "fatherless daughters" due to my husband recently filing for divorce. The emotions a daughter goes through when her father chooses to leave their mother and the impact it will have on them in the present and in the future was eye-opening. It gave me a better understanding of what they are experiencing, how it can influence decision-making when it comes to relationships with men. The differences between daughters who lose their fathers due to divorce or abandonment and those whose fathers have passed away is clearly defined, and the authors provide personal stories from women around the world who have faced these challenges. These women share their struggles and their successes, and what impact being a fatherless daughter has had on their life decisions and on their relationships. Denna Babul and Karin Luise touch on all the possible reasons fathers leave -- death, desertion, abandonment, divorce, drugs, alcoholism, etc. And with each scenario comes sound advice on how to cope either as the daughter or the people who love her. Denna and Karin covered all aspects of being fatherless, from the timing of the loss to coping mechanisms to missing your dad to moving forward. There was a spirituality to this book. As heartbreaking as it was to read about what fatherless daughters experience knowing that my daughters are going through this right now, I also felt a sense of comfort; I was comforted knowing that my daughters were going to be just fine, but that it would take time along with the love and support of me and the rest of our family. And, although I am not a fatherless daughter, I felt as if I was now part of a sisterhood...a sisterhood that shares a special bond brought about by a common loss.
