This was the perfect ending to Cedric and Renee's relationship. Their relationship has been full of drama and love ftom the beginning... Ren�e was less than impressed with Cedric's job as a writer, and his pursuing of her only adds to her questioning of this man that drives her crazy, yet makes her stomach twitch with nervous energy.

At the end of book 1, Ren�e was at an impasse, forgive Cedric and move forward with him or walk away forever. As His Muse's Fidelity begins, it is very clear that Ren�e has returned to him and they are happy living their partial BDSM life while real life plays around them. But while they settle into their comfortable life and Cedric's new book release, Ren�e comes face to face with a woman that warns her about him and his ability to ruin her. Unsure if she can trust the strange woman, and Cedric shutting down any answers that may help her she is left questioning their relationship and if she can really trust him.

Calling on best friend, Lesley she vents all of her questions to her. Knowing she must take this on her own and figure out if Cedric really is the man for her or once again walk away. Luckily we are not left questioning what happens this time, as they work through the issues with the Stange women into a relationship that will last forever. Well we hope so anyway.

I received this book free for an honest review. Ms May brings the answers we were all left with from the first book on the story of Renee and Cedric. If you remember in the first book Renee met Cedric when her friend talked her into going with her to a reading with this author. In this book it describes the story much better. Renee is pushed by Cedric to move in with him. That she doesn't need to work or anything. He can take care of them both. Cedric is moody when writing a book but even more so when he has to do personal appearances. Cedric's mother shows up and confuses Renee since Cedric told her she was no where near them. Also, an ex of Cedric's shows up. They both try to get her to leave Cedric. Trying to convince her that he is evil. No, he's not evil, he just is a very good Dom. Renee is the perfect sub for him. He pushes her boundaries, just as any good Dom would do. But, will Renee let them get to her? Can she keep dealing with Cedric's push for her to move in with him? Well, you will have to read this chapter of their lives to find out.

The HEA that I was hoping for!

I must say that I feel like the author, Linnea May, read my last review and wrote this story just for me! This is the companion novel to His Secret Muse. This book answered almost all of the questions that I had about Cedric and Renee's relationship and the characters themselves. Renee is truly in love with Cedric, but because of his lack of wanting to talk about himself, she starts to doubt whether or not he is truly serious about her, especially when his mother and ex-girlfriend show up making similar claims and warning her of just that! This book has quite a few twists and turns and since I am not one to spoil a book for someone who is just reading reviews to see if the book is worth the read, I must say that this book is certainly worth your time. I can honestly say that after reading it, I am comfortable with the way the story ends..... However, I would not be upset if the next book had to do with Renee's loud, outspoken, best friend Lesley... hint hint!!!! I received an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Good review book

I really like the format of the RadCases series. They show a case, present a differential, tell essential facts and lastly give pearls and pitfalls of each case. 4 out of 5 stars only because I found a couple errors (minor typos and just one factual that I can remember - said monochorionic diamniotic twins have highest mortality and it is actually mono-mono which have the highest mortality).

humbling

Read the book. Be prepared to be humbled. The author is a Mormon and he uses scriptural references in his writings, but they all make sense, don't let it deter you if you are not Mormon, you will still get good advise from this book. I am still wrapping my mind around the concept that we are all so damn critical and the damage it does to others and to ourselves... I hope to use the concepts taught in this book to have a better relationship with my kids and their families and my spouse. I hope I am not too old to learn...

Get Ready To Toe The Line...

If you do a quick google search of Grete Waitz you will find a ton of information on such an accomplished runner. For this alone her book is worth considering. Her wealth of knowledge is put to good use as she walks the runner through the experience from the ground up, moving from beginning training to after finishing, giving anecdotes and examples along the way.

I've ran in 6 marathon or longer races thus far and am still learning some of what she writes in this book. Reader beware, though, this book is for exactly what the title states, for runners looking to run their first marathon. A lot of the information given is very basic to runners who have ran this distance already, but to someone who never has ran 26.2 she touches on every aspect and allows the runner to become well informed in what they are getting into.

She briefly touches on two training schedules within the book. The first is for those readers who have ran very little at all. It sets them up and begins conditioning them to running, which in turn prepares them for the actual marathon training. So if you do run some then the training schedule number two is where you would begin. But it is very basic, kind of a run these miles on these days on this week. And she makes it clear that this book is not meant as a day by day guide to your training.

Instead she focuses on the stuff that is overlooked when researching and preparing for a marathon. She goes over running basics, such as form and speed and so on, as well as signs to prevent injury, motivation, and running gear among other information. But the most important chapter is Chapter 12: Marathon Nutrition and Hydration. Even if you have ran a marathon before this is a good chapter to read and refresh and/or educate yourself again. There is a good amount of base information that will probably go the farthest for any marathon hopeful in aiding them to the finish line. Additionally, the final chapter, The Race, is also very useful for the beginning runner because it goes over some of what you will feel, see and expect when you toe the line.

I wish I would have found Mrs. Waitz's book before I ran my fateful, yet ill prepared first marathon at San Francisco.

You can do better.

By hearing the credentials of Grete Waitz, I was expectant to learn much from this book about my first marathon training. What I got however, was the desire to break out a red pen and an overwhelming need to get a better book. The entire work is filled with obvious grammatical errors (even on the back cover, "udated" rather than "updated" is featured in bright yellow lettering. If only I had paid attention to that!) English errors aside, this isn't a very helpful book as a guide. Most of the information in it is little more than common sense, and if it isn't, could have easily been gleaned from the internet. Grete has but one 16 week training program, and a bonus one previous to that to make sure you are fit to run. The descriptions of the programs are lacking at best, and offer scant insight on the timing of strength training or stretching. For a better knowledge base and a book you'll go back to when you have questions, try The Marathon Method: The 16-Week Training Program that Prepares You to Finish a Full or Half Marathon in Your Best Time By Tim Holland- it features far more detailed and varied training plans, so you'll be more likely to find one that suits you. With all respect to Waitz and her amazing accomplishments, her book fell far short of the training bible she claims it to be.

Interesting, well-written and informative book. It is truly a book for first-timers, however, and most of the information -although relevant to running- is general, for the large public. She does cover most if not all topics that you might want to read about. It is a good inspiration especially if you doubt you can run a marathon.

About the Author
Steven Zwerling was born and raised in East Flatbush at a time when the Brooklyn Dodgers were still in residence. He went to PS 244, then Brooklyn Technical High School, and after that Columbia where he was an English major. After grad school he taught at Queens College and subsequently became an Assistant Dean at the City University of New York and Associate Dean at New York University. After his first book was published—Second-Best, a history of America’s community colleges—he was recruited by the Ford Foundation where he became Senior Director for Education, Media, Arts, and Culture. In recent years he has contributed to a number of blogs, including the Daily Kos and his own Behind the New York Times, where a number of the stories in Obama, Oy Vey first appeared.

"What a timely and provocative perspective to share during this hectic political campaign! Only a reflective, “progressive” Mom could teach a lifetime of political responsibility through her sensitive, gifted son with the support of his wife..
Mother Zwerling demonstrated throughout her life, the importance of developing genuine human relationships by sharing friendships and commitment to the “struggle”. Now, when so many young people are searching for meaning and authenticity, she teaches us that the “struggle” includes the contributions of all who work toward a “more perfect union”. Democratic societies, she urges, depend upon collaborative action in order to be successful. Mother Zwerling has become a friend to all of us who willingly reflect on her wisdom and life experiences.
My advice to my children, grandchildren and all youth – if you really want to understand the Obama era, read this book."

The wit and wisdom espoused by these 'golden girls' is a wry tonic for the times. You'll laugh, you'll cry but mostly wish YOU had the author's mom as your own... we should all be so lucky to live this long and have this much love and laughter fill our days. I can't wait for the movie!

No cliche to say I laughed and cried for real, reading these vivid, moment-to-moment dialogues. This son and mother are intimate but never sentimental, full of affection and curiosity as two people living fully in their times.

Understanding another framework of power

The approach to state-building in Iraq is anchored in Western concepts of governing. Many, myself included, would argue this was an acceptable approach in the Golden Hour after the initial resistance was crushed or crumbled before resistance could organize and the shock wore off. In this power vacuum, the United States was dealing with a largely secular state that had a strong sense of national identity. However, as the Golden Hour slipped away and the opportunity to rebuild was squandered and religious men, fakers, and criminals stepped into the vacuum, the framework for discourse changed. The Western Machiavellian mindset was being displaced by a retreat into religion and tribalism, neither of which are "accepted" by the Machiavellian power model. Especially today, four years into the occupation of an Arab country at the cross-roads of Sunni and Shia, Arab and Persian, and West and East, we should reconsider how power is spoken, framed, and understood.

A Sicilian Arab, Muhammad ibn Zafar al-Siqilli, wrote a handbook for a prince 350 years before Machiavelli: Sulwan al-Muta' Fi 'Udwan al-Atba' (Consolation for the Ruler During the Hostility of Subjects). Joseph A. Kechichian and R. Hrair Dekmejian's book, The Just Prince: A Manual of Leadership, analyzes the ibn Zafar's suggestions and compares ibn Zafar's ideas with Machiavelli's.

In crafting a communications strategy in Iraq, and the larger Muslim world, it should be valuable to consider the Arab Machiavelli's recommendations which stem from a Muslim view of legitimacy deeply rooted in tribal customs and a Prophet-inspired just public order. This awareness shaped his vision of power and virtue.

Understanding the framework of power of friend and foe alike is essential. Achieving moral legitimacy is one thing but if our language and actions are inherently counter to local understanding, then the chance of success diminishes and will increasingly rely on luck, not skill. Ibn Zafar informs us of nuances we otherwise are not aware of and my trample upon.

We have unintentionally permitted the strengthening of tribal and sectarian divisions that creates lines of power we have difficulty understanding and difficulty speaking to. The Just Prince provides guidance and language on the operations of Islamic groups just as Machiavelli provides guidance and language on the operations of Western groups.
