Surprising but wonderful reunion - oh, it came in mint condition!

I read this book a long time ago, probably in elementary school. I remember being so enraptured with the narrative that when I got older, I would always remember a worn down blue book with a title I had since forgotten that had captivated me and encouraged me to read, imagine, and eventually start writing on my own spare time. Fast forward ten or so years from that time, now I have finally figured out the title! When I saw it on Amazon, I knew I had to grab my own copy. I'm looking forward to reading this and rereading this! As for the condition of the product, it came fully secured in its packaging and had no damage whatsoever - a perfectly clean and crisp new paperback.

Made us Happy!

Our 14 year old daughter had to read this book prior to starting her homeschool coop in a few weeks. We received this item along with another in less than expected time and packaged as expected....perfectly. Our child started to read this as soon as it was delivered and has not been able to put it down. It is very well written and the spacing of the chapters makes it an easy read for her. I remember as a younger person reading this one and there are always things to pick up and understand even better as an adult. It is a classic and will be passed on to our others to read as well. It should be read over and over it is that good. Hope this review is able to help with your purchase.

I purchased the Phantom Tollbooth for a friend who had never heard of it. Really? I thought every Boomer had read this fantastic tale! It was first read to me, and the rest of the class, by my third grade teacher, Mrs Vadetskey. What a incredible journey Milo takes. Milo, a board little boy who is about to have his world turned upside down when he drives his car through the Tollbooth. My favorite has always been jumping to conclusions... I'll save the rest for you to discover. Just a great book!

Excellent, sweet, godly

This is my third favorite of Susan Warner's novels, "Say and Seal" being my favorite, and "The Wide, Wide World" my second. This one has many similarities to "W.W.W.", the character of Alice, for instance, is easily seen in Mrs. Mowbray. Full of Christian principles, as are all of Susan Warner's books. Reccommended to anyone looking for clean, good reads.

A spiritual experience while being hugely entertained

This is my favorite Susan Warner book. It was a tremendous spiritual experience. I became so uplifted, challenged (in a good way), and thrilled with the Lord Jesus Christ while I was reading it--and while I was being hugely entertained. I don't remember ever being more entertained by any book, modern or old, and I truly had trouble putting it down. Unpredictable plot twists, a really venomous villain, a heroine you could identify with (at least I could) and sympathize with her weaknesses and rejoice when she conquered them. How can a book be so much FUN to read while being so spiritually edifying? It was wonderful. I think this heroine is the best one of all Warner's heroines in the books I've read of hers so far. If you have ever liked any book by Susan Warner, you will love this one, and maybe more than any other. If you've never read one of her books--treat yourself.

Very good story bringing scripture to life in a believable heroine

I loved this book too. The heroine is very believable - very unwilling to give up her perceived freedom to embrace Christ and full of very honest dislike and refusal of the idea. However, a natural progression of events in her life takes away all of her freedoms even though she is not a Christian, and finally, she gives herself to Christ - only to discover the difficulty of forgiving a truly hateful relative, and of following Christ's most personal and difficult commands. There is a very satisfying romance woven in.

The story is a long one but I too had difficulty putting it down. Like George MacDonald and Isabella Alden, this author is very gifted in bringing scripture to life in a way that sticks with you and helps you.

must read!!!!

This is such an incredible sweet story!!!! Everything that author, Christa Wick, writes is so much fun to read, but in this case it just blew me away! The story was done from the male's POV and it was different to read but in a really good way! It was powerful, sweet, and but of course very hot!!!! This is a new favorite!

I really liked this story. It has drama, humor, and love. Wake,the hero of the story, is asked to protect Lacy Addams Long. There is something special about these two people. Each are scarred. Wake because of what he witness while being in Special Forces. Lacy is scarred because she is blind and has endured emotional abuse by her mother for years. Now she has moved in a cottage on the property of Austin her cousin and guardian. Austin, is an ex-Special Forces commander and head of the unit that Wake served under. He is also very wealthy. When Lacy's safety is jeopardized, her guardian asks Wake to become her body guard. I started out saying to myself that I'm going to read only a couple of chapters but ended up finishing the entire book. It was a good read to me and I wanted to see what happen to the hero and heroine of the story. I am a prude. So to me, the sex scenes are explicit but completely appropriate.

I enjoyed this story. It was a bit weird because its based on characters in Black Gold by Christa Wick which I haven't read and I will! Otherwise, a bit lost. HEHE. Loved it and Wake really was sweet and a total gentleman. Other guys would totally take advantage of the situation and he didnt. He hurt her pretty bad at first by rejecting her which didn't know what he was thinking there. He was in love with her already and she confesses she wants him but then he rejects her? I get kinda why because of his past as a soldier and doesnt wanna drag her down. Shes got her own things going on. Austin who is Lacey's cousin slaps him upside the head and tries talking sense into him. Which Wake goes to her BUT doesn't go all the way since she is a virgin and he wanted to wait until this whole surgery thing was over. Boy did he please her though! LOL. Yum! Me next! Great ending. Sweet story.
