I just got this the other day and it is a must-have for every busy teen witch. Part almanac, part calendar, there's plenty of space to write every day's commitments and also, daily correspondances, moon phases and signs, useful articles from fellow pagans (including Ray Buckland), spells, and more. There's not a teen witch who wouldn't benefit from this.

No words can explain how great this is! This is not only for Teens, but Adults too. I'm 25 and carry this around with me everywhere, and it is very helpful. I like how it includes short spells, the moon phases, and it tells what planet is moving in. Plus there is lots of room to write things down.

Great resource; much better in digital form

"Sota" as this handbook is affectionately called is THE anesthesia drug handbook. It is a bit bulky in its current form, being short and fat, it can fit in a lab coat or bulge out of scrub pockets. For this reason I only carry the digital version to work each day. Skyscape's version works very very well. I recommend the book, and I recommend you get it in digital form for the Skyscape smartphone app.

I have not actually used it yet, but I have reviewed it and believe it will work for my purposes. It is well written and provides a very good detail. I was a 2nd Degree Black Belt in the ATA, but due to unforeseen circumstances, I have not practiced in a long, long time. I believe this book will help be get back on track before I actually go back to one of the local ATA schools. You certainly cannot use these books, or any other books, to learn if you do not have a certified instructor to tell you where you are going wrong, but this will be of great help to me in relearning the moves in my forms.

Excellent

I thoroughly recommend this. It manages to give a clear and insightful analysis of the politics of the Soviet Union in the given time period. Because it's a determinist view, it looks at broad factors - which groups held the powers of authority and coercion, the nature of Marxist/communist ideology - and hardly at the individual leaders. Lenin died with nary a whisper, and Stalin was rarely mentioned even throughout the chapter on the great purges - the focus, rather, was on the common people and the idea of all rules breaking down, such that there were no longer logical reasons for who was caught and denounced.
It introduces, but doesn't go into detail about, a variety of viewpoints from various schools of thought - the West vs. contemporary Russian thinkers vs. past Russian politicians (Trotsky, Bukharin) - and highlights the fundamental problems with the Russian communist political ideology.
How could a vanguard party guide and lead without controlling the apparatus? How could such a party maintain its purity if it was supposed to embrace all social groups? And if they believed, as Lenin and Krushchev did, that there was one common aim and only one right way of moving forward - who was to decide what it was? Also, if there was only one right way, by definition all opposition had to be wrong - and therefore unnecessary; which resulted in a dangerous lack of checks-and-balances within the system.

A nice summary of Soviet Politics.

One of my friends saw me reading this book, and stated that such a short book could not adequately cover Soviet politics. This book is the exception and McAuley points out the main themes of the politics of the Soviet Union. For those who want both a basic and advanced educaion on the Soviet political system, this is a nice book. McAuley breaks the Soviet period down into eight chapters and covers the stages of Soviet politics. The following were the basic stages: Revolution, State Building, Industrialization and Collectivization, Terror, Khrushchev and Party Rule, the Administrative-Command System under Brezhnev, and Perestroika and the End of Party Rule.

I found this book a nice analysis of the Soviet Union's politics. It covered in few pages what other authors would convey in 500 pages. This is a nice concise analysis of the subject.

As Raygun pointed out...impossible to find a more concise history of the Soviet Period. Short on words long on content. There is a reason this book is still commanding $40+ new. A must for anyone seeking to understand the Soviet system.

Raising awareness

I enjoyed reading about Radhika and Rohan, her son, very much. The story behind this brave girl is tragic and sad, but the story is well written, with compassion. Thanks to this book, I now have more awareness of women trafficking in Nepal and India and I am currently supporting the organization that houses Radhika and Rohan.

While I was reading this book I had to keep reminging myself this just happened a few years ago not 20! TO hear all that this woman endured is unbelieveable! Then to come home by the help of a stranger only to have her family shun her, I wept! I would love to hear how she is doing now....my prayers go to her and her son that she finds someone and finds happiness! Great story, couldn't put this book down!

Weak writing, but breathtaking story

Radhika's story is one that no one should ever have to endure. And yet, somehow, unbelievably, both she and her son not only endured it, Radhika also found the strength to tell her story.

The writing of this novel is not particularly strong. The book is as captivating as it is (and received as high a mark from me as it did) because of the subject matter, not the way in which it is written. I think it could have benefited from some tougher editing and stronger storytelling skills. That said, I highly recommend this book, if only because it helps bring to light an important topic: the ongoing suppression and abuse of women across the globe. I commend the authors for the support they've given to such a noble cause. It has encouraged me to donate to Maiti Nepal and other centres for victims of human enslavement.

It's like reading an adventure story. When readers responded by saying they had to read it all at once, or couldn't put it down, I knew I'd accomplished what I set out to achieve!

While all my books are self contained, I suggest to anyone who discovers my titles to start with "Caught Between Two Worlds" because it sets up all the characters featured in the books which follow.

You will believe!

By the time you finish reading this book, if you didn't believe in ghosts, reincarnation or premonitions before, you will now. This is a book that is hard to put down. Each end of chapter has you wanting to know what happens next. Scott Russell Hill has done excellent work in putting out of book of intrigue and wonderment.

I found this book to be fascinating. It's one of those books that you just can't put down. To read about Scott's emotional stress and try to understand how he's been able to deal with everything that's happened to him is amazing. I would definitely recommend reading this book.

A life-changing true story.

I first bought this book after its original release, and it remains the most impactful true story I have ever read. Scott Russell Hill takes the reader on an inspirational journey through dozens of personal spiritual life events - including near death experiences, premonitions, and recalling past lives - and like all good writers you feel as if you are there as his story unfolds. Unlike many spiritual authors today, however, Scott's writing is humble, heart-felt and lets the reader into his own sense of turbulence and vulnerability as he strives to make sense of every twist and turn. A life-changing book that you simply must read.
